Hello! I am a PhD student in Communication at the University of Colorado Boulder. I specialize in intercultural interaction, faith-based organizations, and nonprofits.

C.S. Lewis said “We read to know we are not alone,” and I believe that we write for similar reasons. Writing allows us to reach out into the depths of the universe, extending a heart of questions and hope like a beacon across the fog–a true writer’s only goal is to offer a part of their self in the hope that someone out there will echo back with understanding. Writing and reading stitch empathy into humanity, reminding us that we are all equally created, loved, and important.

Nevertheless, writing is a scary venture for me. I grew up in a life of sunshine (literally though–I grew up in San Diego where the average rainfall is about ten inches per year). But the comfort of constant warmth developed a hunger inside of me for testing myself and seeing new places. That led me to choose an undergraduate university in Chicago, where I spent several record-breaking winters pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone. Since then I have lived in New Mexico, Washington, and now Colorado.

I have a variety of interests that I tend to write about, such as:

  • academic life
  • communication
  • culture
  • education
  • writing
  • reading
  • communication
  • the outdoors
  • hiking
  • travel

Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me a bit more. I would love to hear from you as well–feel free to comment and ask questions, it helps me figure things out too.
